Dr. Chandra Balachandran with a group of TIIGs students at the Geo Vidyaa centre
At the Geo Vidyaa Center, students see connections between geography and their own lives. They understand natural events (ie. earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, climate change, volcanoes, ect.) more clearly.
Also, students learn about the relationship between humans and the planet (ie. pollution, building cities, transportation changes), and how populations organize themselves on earth (ie. how human settlements are arranged on Earth, how people migrate, how our populations change ect.). Students are preparing themselves for a variety of careers related to geography.
Teachers learn what geography involves and interesting ways to teach these skills – so that it is enjoyable and informative to both the instructor and the students.
Welcome to geography in the 21st century! Explore a world of ideas!
The Indian Institute of Geographical Studies (TIIGS) and Army Public School (APS), Bangalore have collaborated to establish the GeoVidyaa Geography Centre of Excellence (“GeoVidyaa Centre” for short) at the campus of the Army Public School, Kamaraj Road, Bangalore.
