Welcome to 21st century geography education!  Explore a world of ideas!

In collaboration with different institutions, The Institute of Geographical Studies (TIGS) has established GeoVidyaa Geography Centers (GVGCs) in Bangalore, Mysore, Chamarajanagar (Karnataka), and Chennai and Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu). GVGCs are non-formal hubs of innovative geography education where we provide exciting geography education for both K-12 students and their teachers.

At the GeoVidyaa Centers, we engage with geography as a discipline, not a subject. Students learn not only the concepts, tools, and ethics of geography, but also about how it applies to real life in relationships among humans and our relationship with the rest of the environment.

Students learn about issues of spatial justice and how a geography education can help them become involved in making a difference for the better.

These also help them explore geography as a career option.

The GVGCs empower teachers by providing innovative and interesting pedagogies, better access to content, and the use of contemporary technologies to deliver a quality 21st-cenutry geography education for their students.

Teachers become active agents of change in the development of students by delivering a transformational geography education. This helps students become better equipped to function in, and shape, the world they will grow up in.
